I still find myself building games in my free time. It doesn’t make nearly as much money as anything else I do, and it tends to consume so much time that I can barely function. However, I genuinely enjoy it—perhaps even more than anything else.
There are literally dozens of game ideas in my head, and I clearly need a team to bring them to life. The hardest part is funding this hobby, because, let me tell you, it’s not cheap. I can handle most of the tasks myself—design, development, and sometimes even the creative aspects—but if I try to do it all, there won’t be anything left of me. It’s not the smartest way to proceed.
Yesterday, I received a notification that I earned (!!!) 12 times less than I did last year. It was a reality check, but only for a moment. Then, I just let it go. Money brought me a lot of happiness back in the day, and I still have enough, so I’m not interested in giving it power over me. Chasing after money brought me nothing but seasonal depression, an inflated ego, and boredom. Living without a challenge or purpose is a kind of hell. These days, I find myself a bit happier when I face new problems, because, honestly, what is life if not a cycle of problems and solutions? ;)
